Country Pub?

Noticed your clients have been passing you by?

If you’re a country pub, then why not consider converting that dead yard into a space where nomads can park!

On 30 June 2020, approximately 4.2 million people (16% of Australia’s total population) were aged 65 and over [1] and a Roy Morgan[2] study suggests that 237 million baby boomers visited a pub for a meal or a drink during this time.

As our population ages and small farms are a thing of the past, many country pubs are looking at how they can stay open and still be viable. Glengarry Pub, Victoria is one that has opened its backyard to self-contained vans and Facebook’s Country Pub Camping page is full of grateful nomads who are spreading the word.

Every time I am on the road I see more caravans looking for free or cheap campsites to stay and most grey nomads I have chatted to have also indicated they prefer to support a pub or club than pay for campsites where the kids rule the roads.

So why not investigate this creative way of supporting local jobs as well as staying open. You don’t need to have a huge yard, just one that’s accessible with an outdoor loo that can be accessed till late. And while you’re at it, ask us about MyPub Insurance to support you.

Have a quick chat to us about insuring your property to support new clientele in that camping backyard!
